There’s a number of Filipino movies that feature this. It’s a good place in Tagaytay City to have, what else, a picnic. Picture this: a full view of Taal volcano or Taal lake, picnic huts or gazebos hugging the slope of the hill, cold breeze massaging your cheeks, the aroma of home-made fresh pork barbecue cooked by the guests themselves, kids and dads flying kites, and horseback riding at the fringes. Food and beverage readily available everywhere.
The description may seem inviting and this picture may look nice. It seems a good place to visit when in the Philippines and you happen to wander into Tagaytay City.
Then I learned there’s something new to explore — the cable car and the zip line.
There’s nothing hi-tech about the cable car. It’s just plain steel welded together. No fancy stuff. Just the most basic functional structure.
Same thing for the zip line. There’s a version where you’re in a sitting position (you could bring and hold your kid while doing this). A car tire (yes, that rubber tire) at the other end of the line serves as the stopping mechanism, with two assistants tugging you to break the momentum. – visitpinas.com

Picnic Grove Tagaytay is the most visited park in the province of Cavite that overlooks the Taal Volcano and Taal Lake. It is an affordable weekend getaway for tourists who wants to go for a picnic and have a breathtaking view of the Taal Volcano. The cool air in Picnic Grove Tagaytay also helps in relaxation for a truly wonderful time.
Huts are available for rent if you prefer a shade where you can also do your barbecue as well. Accommodations are also available if you want to have an overnight stay so yo can breath in that fresh air of the morning. Horseback riding is available for the kids and you can also go shopping for souvenirs or just stroll around.
There is a view deck and boardwalk for that perfect view of the lake and the volcano. There are also restaurants if you happen to just drop by for the views and a little walking.
The Tagaytay Ridge Zip line and Cable Car is also around the area if you want to have an adventure ride on their 250 meter zipline at about 300 feet high. The zip line and cable car facility is operated by a different company and is separate from the Picnic Grove.
The best time to be in Tagaytay Picnic Grove is during week days where the crowds are fewer and the zip line ride is cheaper. – philippine-visit.com
