INTERESTING SPOTS IN APAYAO
The province of Apayao boasts its own collection of natural wonders that are otherwise not found in the rest of the Cordilleras. Little wonder that it has been dubbed as “Cordillera’s Last Frontier for Nature Richness.” Here, underground rivers, majestic waterfalls, magnificent lakes hug a unique land that is replete with captivating caves, picture-pretty parks, and exotic wildlife.
Apayao River
The Apayao River flows from an extensive watershed in the western slopes of the province, flows past the town of Kabugao and runs into the Pacific Ocean at the coastal town of Abulug. The river is picturesque through much of its length, and features a number of waterfalls and other features as it runs through the centre of the province.
Lussok Crystal Cave
The Lussok Crystal Cave is located in Luna, Apayao Philippines. It is a perfect example of the beauty of the natural wonders of the country. With its 3 room cave that holds various stalagmite formations, it’s a must see for anyone visiting Apayao.
Bayugao Falls
For a refreshing dip in the cool waters of Apayao, a great scenic spot would be the Bayugao Falls. It’s 4 kilometers away from Poblacion and has a 3-deck natural pools rising about 12 meters from each other.
Allabang Cave
Allabang Cave is located in Luna, Apayao Philippines. It’s a great place for spelunkers, as the Allabang Cave is filled with huge quantities of guano.
Nalvo Cave
Nalvo Cave is located in Luna, Apayao Philippines. Luna is one of the best places for cave hopping, as the Nalvo Cave is just one of the seven caves that surround the municipality.

Surrounded by lush forests and massive boulders, Maton River is an enchanting stream in Lower Maton. It flows into a small cascade and drains into a small pool at the bottom. Daredevils should definitely experience jumping from the 15-foot outcrop for an exhilarating splash. For the more laid-back visitor, the varying levels of the riverbed make for a good back massage. It is a delaminated forestland straddling along the Ilocos Norte – Apayao boundary.
