Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro is well-known for its beautiful pocket beaches and numerous scuba diving spots. The best diving spots are just a few minutes away, but if you plan to venture deeper, it is recommended to get the service of an experienced driver (they are around to serve you, for a fee).
The area boasts to be the home of more than 180 species of nudibranches as well as fish. and a couple of old wrecks as well.
There are many great spots for snorkeling, and Coral Garden Beach Resort in Oriental Mindoro is one of them. Beautiful corals, fishes and other marine life abounds in the area. It is perfect especially for beginners, because it is only 12 meters deep. Expert divers and underwater photographers will truly enjoy the beauty under the sea.
Oriental Mindoro has one of the most clean and pristine rivers just a few hours from Puerto Galera. The river is wild, specially by nature for whitewater rafting. It takes more than two hours to enjoy the exhilarating rush of 16 rapids which actively surge between two mountains.
The world’s longest island-to-island zip line can be found in Oriental Mindoro. The zip line takes the rider from the top of the hill across the sea, connecting two islands. The fee includes a boat ride to take you back to the island where you started.
Puerto Galera is not only a major sports diving and sailing destination, but it also offers the gentleman’s sport of golf. The Ponderosa Golf Club is a 9 hole course but it is located on the mountain side overlooking Puerto Galera. It offers a serious challenge playing with jungle on all sides. It also gives a panoramic view of the surrounding islands all the way to the mountains.
