Guimaras Island is a favored destination by both foreign and domestic tourists because of its picturesque beaches, waterfalls, springs, off shore islets, and its famous mangoes, which is considered one of the sweetest in the world. Guimaras is an island province of the Philippines located in the Western Visayas region.
Guimaras is also well known for its white sand beaches, pristine seas, and secluded off shore islets. Among its most popular destinations include Alubihod Bay with its calm waters, and Guisi Beach, where visitors could enjoy the province’s natural beauty.
White sand beaches, multi-colored corals, fish, and other marine life are also found in Igang and Tando Bays and Taklong islets. For those who opt to relax in a secluded and luxurious destination, there’s Costa Aguada Island Resort in Inampulungan Island, Nagarao Island Resort, and Isla Naburot. Alubihod Beach is one of the biggest tourist draws in Guimaras because of its white sand beach and peculiar yellow rocks. Its clean blue sea with gentle waves and good elevation is excellent for swimming. This beach also lets you enjoy a wonderful view of the horizon that’s sitting side by side with nearby islands that are filled lush green plants that are cool to the eyes. As the twilight settles, a serene and silent beach takes over to give you a relaxing and pleasant evening. Quietly sitting by the shore while gazing at the fascinating stars and listening to the calm sound of the waves perfectly relieves your mind from stress and concerns. If you haven’t had enough swimming, certain parts of the beachfront have lights and lifeguards until late in the evening so you can continue the splashing fun. As soon as we reached the shore, I was instantly held captive by the charm of Guisi beach. The closer view was more beautiful than the view from the road uphill. I was amazed by how transparent the water was, making the rocks and pebbles underwater visible. I soon realized how Guisi Clearwater Resort got its name. The sand is not powdery like the sand of Boracay but its golden yellow color makes it unique on its own. The blue water and yellowish texture of the sand create a seascape of varying shades of green. The water was also peaceful and calm which could have been a perfect day for me to swim and snorkel.
At the right far end of the beach, beautiful rock formations caught my attention. I headed toward this side after seeing some opportunities for great seascape and landscape shots. On this part of the beach is the abundance of pebbles of varying sizes. There is also a wooden stair that leads up to Kenyama Beach Resort. I didn’t go further beyond the huge rocks because one would need to climb over these rock formations or trudge through the waist-deep water to get to the other side.
