MACAHAMBUS CAVE

The cave was the site of the historic Battle of Macahambus on June 4, 1900 which marked the Filipinos’ first victory against the American during the Philippine – American war. A Marker of the National Historical Institute is placed at the entrance of the cave. The cave is a short cavern that leads to a breathtaking view of the Cagayan de Oro River meanding below. The Macahambus Cave is not only a historical sight of Cagayan de Oro City, but also an adventurous one. The land ist mostly karst and it has many caves, but not all are so easy to enter as this one.
The Macahambus Cave is conveniently located right beside the road from Barangay Lumbia to the town of Talakag.
