Albay province is very rich in historical sites, educational places and recreational venues. This is the Home of the famous and most active Mayon Volcano. But aside from Mayon there is the famous Cagsawa Ruins, Lignon Hills and so many others. In its capital city alone, Legazpi City, two days is not enough to visit all the beautiful places here. Nothing compares to old-school leisure places like the kiddie playground, zoo, public parks, and, of course, what I adored when I recently visited Legazpi City — the combo of all those in one place called Albay Park & Wildlife.
Surprisingly, in Legazpi City, the Albay Park & Wildlife provides its local residents a vast space for communing with nature and exotic animals. They also have that wide property for interacting with each other in the most natural ways and not with the kids tugging at their parents’ shirts for more food and toys. While most Philippine beaches celebrate being gifted with white-to-warm and golden sands, Albay province takes pride in owning a long stretch of shoreline beautified by rare jet-black sand.
The waterscape of this city alone, that features beautiful white surging surfs of the ocean gracefully sweeping to form a sharp contrast with sands of the deepest ebony color underneath up to the natural formations of the long stretch of beach, is itself a natural wonder added to the majestic view of Mayon Volcano.
Albay’s black sand is a product of millions of years of natural erosion that pulverized the mighty volcanic rocks into fine-textured silts and dumped to the sea by river channels emanating from the slopes of Mt. Mayon, an active volcano, owning a record of dozens of violent eruptions since time immemorial.
The city government here takes advantage of its tourism development and promotion of this priced possession that offers tourists the touch of Hawaiian Island that is famous for its beautiful black sand beaches, some of which are considered the best black sand beaches in the world.
No need to visit Hawaii to experience the beauty of black sand beaches. Read More:http://www.cebu-philippines.net/black-sand-beaches.html
The Coral Genesis Project and Marine Sanctuary is the country’s first underwater solar-powered and coral-beaded rosary installed in Albay Gulf early last August. It is a 60-coral-bead chain with attached solar panels, bulbs and a concrete crucifix forming a 65-meter rosary installed 25 feet deep in the coastal waters of Sto. Domingo town in Albay by the Legazpi City Chapter of the Junior Chamber International. Read More:http://greedypeg.org/albay/Coral-Genesis-Project-Marine-Sanctuary.html
