The Sierra Madre is the longest mountain range in the Philippines. Running in the north-south direction from the provinces of Cagayan to the north and Quezon to the south, the mountains form the eastern backbone of Luzon Island, the largest island of the archipelago. It is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east. The Pacific coast of Luzon along the Sierra Madre is less developed as the lofty and continuous mountains forms a bold and an almost inaccessible shore, exposed to the full force of the northeast monsoon and the waves of the Pacific Ocean. Some of communities east of the mountain range and along the coast are so remote they are only accessible by plane or boat.
The Sierra Madre covers from Aurora, Bulacan, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Quezon, Quirino and Rizal province. Read More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_Madre_(Philippines)
The Sierra Madre Mountain Range can be accessed through any of the adjoining provinces Aurora, Bulacan, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Quezon, Quirino and Rizal province.
Through Cagayan:
Set along the eastern part of Central Luzon, the Northern Sierra Madre National Park is considered one of the ten most-protected regions in the Philippines. Ideal for trekking and mountaineering, the 360,000-hectare park is the country’s largest protected area and the richest in genetic, species and habitat variety.
The Northern Sierra Madre National Park is accessible from Cauayan Airport by light aircraft, and from Sta. Ana in Cagayan or Baler in Aurora Province by pumpboat, as well as by trekking from Ilagan in Isabela and San Mariano in Cauayan. It can, furthermore, be reached by air transport from Tuguegarao’s domestic airport. A flight from Manila to Tuguegarao takes about 45 minutes. Through Tanay, Rizal:
I found out two ways commuting there, first is the more scenic route which will involve more zigzag roads and mountain views.
Ride a jeep or FX from Cubao to Cogeo. FX fare as of this writing is Php35. From Cogeo (already a part of Antipolo), ride a jeep going to Sampaloc (a barangay of Tanay). Fare is Php52 to the resort. Sierra Madre will be on your left. Last trip of jeeps passing by the resort from Sampaloc to Cogeo is 6 PM but depending on the volume of passengers and the weather, it is always safer to leave earlier, about 5 PM. That’s according to the jeepney drivers I asked in Sampaloc.
From StarMall in crossing, ride a van going to Tanay Rizal, fare is Php70. From Daranak Falls, it is always wiser to go back to the terminal in Plaza Aldea to have a guaranteed seat. From the terminal, ride a jeep going to Sampaloc. Travel time is about 30 minutes. Fare is Php26. From Sampaloc, ride a jeep to Cogeo. Fare is Php10. Sierra Madre is on your right. Last trip of vans from Tanay to Crossing is 8 PM. Read More: http://mybackpackdiaries.blogspot.com/2012/03/sierra-madre-resort-resort-with-scenic.html
From Manila:
Cubao, Quezon City is the closest gateway to this resort.
The first step is to ride a jeepney or an FX van from Cubao to Cogeo. Once in Cogeo, ride a jeepney going to Sampaloc and look on you left until you see Sierra Madre’s sign board. The travel time is approximately 1 1/2 hour from Trinoma depending on the traffic situation. Make sure to leave around 5PM to be safe because the jeepneys passing by the resort is until 6PM only. With its refreshing view of the mountains and cool breeze, the Sierra Madre Hotel & Resort in Tanay, Rizal is a favorite stopover for motorcycling and mountain biking enthusiasts.
It is roughly about 58 kilometers from Katipunan to the Sierra Madre Hotel and Resort. By car or motorcycle, you can get here in 45mins to an hour and a half, depending on your pace and the traffic in the Marikina and Cogeo area. Mountain bikers may have a bit more of a challenge because of the steep uphill ascents. Read More: http://www.traveling-up.com/the-sierra-madre-hotel-resort-tanay/
Traveling by Air:
