Sibud-Sibud Cave is located along the newly constructed road of Tineg, Abra, Philippines. tourists can go spelunking at the Sibud-sibud Cave. Although the cave is little explored, the entire place however is very ideal for nature lovers as it is sited amidst lush greenery. It can be reached after a 33 kilometer or 1 ½ hour travel.

The Sibud-Sibud Cave in this upland town is one of the 39 caves in the Philippines that have been placed under the protection and management of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently.

Saturnina Miguel of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office said an area receives protection from DENR for its recognizable beauty and natural and cultural reserves. This is necessary to preserve the caves so the public could enjoy them.

Sibud-Sibud Cave is found along the road of Tineng. An ideal place for nature lovers, it can be reached after travelling a distance of around 33 kms.

It is categorized as Class III since it is less explored and visited. Accordingly, Class III caves may also be utilized for economic activities like extraction or collection of guano or bird’s nest.

The local government units and residents are looking forward to developing the premises of the Sibud-Sibud Cave and establishing physical amenities and public utilities for the comfort of tourists and spelunkers.

Economic activities are expected to grow like tour guiding and collection of bird’s nest which is sold to foreigners as souvenir. Guano or bird’s nest is also made as soup and home remedy for certain illness.

For cave enthusiast, a newly opened Sibud-Sibud cave should be part of your itinerary. Located at Tineg Abra, this cave is still considered to be unexplored by many and is reachable along the road going to Tineg proper. Just like other caves, several rock formations can be seen. However, one should be creative enough to imagine these rocks do look something. As of the moment, further exploration of the cave is recommended in order to properly manage its existence.

Sibud-Sibud Cave is situated in Barangay Alaoa in the beautiful, mountainous Municipality of Tineg, Abra. According to the locals, the cave was named Sibud-Sibud because it had been a habitat of numerous birds decades ago. Its name is derived from the Adasen word sibud, meaning bird. Unfortunately, only bats occupy its chambers this days. Possibly, there might be other birds seeking sanctuary as well as accidental animal inhabitants in the chambers near the exits.
