One of the country’s top tourist destinations, people just can’t seem to get enough of Mactan Island in the province of Cebu, and with good reason.
Located just off the coast of the island of Cebu, Mactan Island is home to most of Cebu’s best beaches and high-class resorts like the Shangri-La, Plantation Bay, Crimson Resort and Spa, and the Movenpick Hotel. There’s no shortage of restaurants either, although you will need to go into town if you’re looking to save money.
Divers will also find Mactan Island a great place to be in. Often called the Diving Mecca of the South, it has dive spots around the island and many more just across the sea to the other islands. These dive sites are perfect for beginner or advanced divers, with depths reaching between 30 and 50 meters. Read More: http://primer.com.ph/travel/2016/04/08/mactan-island/
According to legend, Moalboal got its name from a bubbling spring near the seashore. Locals of the area have circulated stories about a Spaniard asking natives what is the name of the place was. Thinking that they were asked about the bubbling spring, the natives answered “bokal-bokal”, which means spring in the local dialect. Language barriers between Spaniards and the natives resulted to the naming of the area Moalboal, which sounds like “bokal-bokal”.
Despite its proximity to Ceby City, Moalboal has retained a unique charm and relaxed atmosphere that has endeared to local and foreign tourists, especially those who love nature. Beach resorts, dive spots and orchid farms abound the area, making Moalboal the ideal getaway from the busy city life.
Most of the resorts lining up the seashore of Moalboal boast great food, cozy accommodations, breath-taking views and interesting dive spots. Read More: http://www.etravelpilipinas.com/travel_destinations/moalboal.htm
