MALAGUICAY WATERFALLS

Abuyog is blessed with a lot of spectacular waterfalls. Some of these waterfalls may be found in Brgy Balinsasayao, Brgy Negba and Brgy Katipunan. However, the most preferred and renowned is the waterfalls in Malaguicay.The Malaguicay waterfalls can be found in Brgy Malaguicay. From the town proper of Abuyog, the waterfalls can be accessed by a motorboat in around 30 minutes. Once you have reached the island, a 5 minute walk to the falls is required. However, once you hear the water falling, all tiredness will surely be washed away. Upon gazing at this truly magnificent gift of nature, one can’t help but feel amazed. After all, Malaguicay would not be brimming with resident foreigners if it did not hold a certain beauty that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The falls is not far from the barangay itself, only about fifteen minutes of walk. It’s not that high or the pool that large. There are two covered cottages and the rest are just tables around the pool area. Since we were the only guests that day, it was just perfect for us. Climbing above the falls, there were shallow parts with strong cascading waters that by just sitting on top of it one got a nice Jacuzzi massage. Aside from the merry-making and the festivity, the town of Abuyog is also visited by tourists for its beautiful waterfalls. There are lots of waterfalls in Abuyog such as those found in Brgy. Katipunan, Brgy. Balinsasayao and Brgy. Nebga, but the most famous of them all is located in Brgy. Malaguicay.
Around 7 meters high, the Malaguicay Falls is a must-see tourist attraction. The locals call it “Linao” because of the cool, clear waters that flow from the cascades of the waterfall. Brgy. Malaguicay is a seaside barangay south of the town proper and is a 20-minute ride away via motorboat. Along the way, the trip will pass through Higasaan River, followed by a 20-minute scenic nature walk to the waterfalls.
