Sibuguey Bay

Zamboanga Sibugay has given courtesy to travelers because of its rich and unpolluted waters. Sibuguey Bay, found in the southwestern part of Mindanao, is a seaside indentation between two capes or peninsulas, bigger than a cove but smaller than a bay.

The bay has perfect spots for doing some water activities and it serves as a friendly home for schools of fish. Bounding the Zamboanga Sibugay’s southern peripheries, this subaquatic must-see is blessed with plentiful coral structures that gather naturally as fish sanctuaries. Sibuguey Bay is one of the main or major bays in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Olutanga’s Sea Snake Sanctuary

For those of you who want an even more adrenalin-pumping adventure, a quick visit to Olutanga’s Sea Snake Sanctuary will make your day. Here, you will get to witness hundreds and thousands of snakes trained and interestingly controlled by a tribal leader. If that’s not intriguing enough, move along the Crocodile Sanctuary located in Siay and bask in the exciting experience of getting up close and personal with more reptiles – crocodiles and the like. Pandilusan Island

Pandilusan Island is an island belonging to the municipality of Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay, but it can be accessed via my home town at Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay for about 30-40 minutes boat ride.

In the Island there are at least 10 small temporary houses where transient fishermans stay. Basically no cottage. No Sarisari (variety) store. When you come here, since it is A VIRGIN ISLAND PARADISE, bring all the necessary food and water and shades/umbrella. Litayon Island

Litayon Island is located in the municipality of Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay. The tranquil blue water and the calm surroundings will give you the best relaxation time of your life. Tipan Cave

Everyone geared up and our tour guide who was trained by the Department of Tourism Region 9 gathered us for our orientation. Rey Sabanal is a local of Barangay Tipan and I’m impressed on how he oriented us like a pro who has been in the tour guiding business for years. The Do’s and Don’ts were explained very well and he underscored the responsibilities of responsible tourists. A fifteen-minute walk passing a hanging bridge led us to the entrance of Tipan Cave where we were welcomed by sharp rocks and the brown waters from inside the cave that had a slight scent of guano or bat droppings. Tagbilat Falls

Titay is home to numerous waterfalls including the aptly named Tagbilat Falls, the most popular and believed to be the grandest not only in town but even in the entire province.

Tagbilat Falls is also known as Malagandis Falls as it is situated in the interrior barangay named Malagandis. It is a two-level cascade along the river of the same name. The upper level consists of small cascades while its base is a 30-feet tall curtain-like waterfall with protruded wall that forms a cave. On first look, it resembles the curtain falls of Tinuy-an in Surigao Del Sur and Campawan in Bangaga, Davao Oriental. But unlike the two, Tagbilat Falls is raw and unspoiled. Dalisay Falls

Dalisay Falls left me breathless at first sight. I hurriedly crossed large boulders and walked through a fallen tree that served as a bridge. Climbed a big rock and marveled at the awesome view in front of me. The basin has the right depth for swimming, although the rapids may pose a challenge if you want to get closer to the waterfall. Dalisay Falls has only one tier and four waterfall curtains. Definitely unadulterated, there are no traces of commercialism in this waterfall. You will be left with nothing but the beauty of nature. Buluan Island

Buluan Island features white sand beach and clear blue waters. The uncombed sand may not be super powdery fine but Buluan Island can offer seclusion and tranquility. The island is privately owned but no entrance fees are collected from visitors. The island is still uncommercialized. Since there are no resorts nor restaurants on the island, visitors should purchase food and drinks from the town. There are bamboo cottages and tables available to visitors at no cost. Zamboanga Sibugay Capitol Complex

This is one of the elegant and stunning capitol buildings I have visited. The capitol complex is located on a hilly portion of the provincial capital where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the town. Its unique architectural features differ from the commonly greek inspired facades. The facade features three colors – yellow, blue, and maroon. The roof has a dominant conical structure in the middle, and the visible columns feature an ethnic style support structure jutting out that speaks of the province’s cultural background. Little Disney Land

On Saturday, November 9, 2019, Zamboanga Sibugay showed off their ‘Festival Lights’. Based on a report from PNA Gov, the “lights on” ceremony was led by officials in the province.

The quadrangle at the provincial capitol in Zamboanga Sibugay was filled with LED lights. It can easily be seen during the night time because it’s situated on a hilltop in Brgy. Ipil Heights.
