The natural beauty of Northern Samar has a lot of tourism potentials that are still undiscovered and unknown to many tourists.
Taking a tour of the islands is a great way to get a feel for the local history and culture. There are plenty of scenic spots to discover, such as the enchanting rock formation, incredible waterfalls and hot spring, sandy beaches and coral reefs, famous old churches, clear rivers, caves, virgin forests and many other secret places. The three secret places are the islands of Biri, Capul and Dalupiri, all off the coast of Northern Samar. Remote and desolate, and definitely off the normal tourist track, Northern Samar is a province which evokes powerful images and untouched beauty. The Faro De Isla Batag or the Batag Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse on Batag Island off the coast of the town of Laoang in the province of Northern Samar. This is the third major lighthouse fully designed and built by the Americans during the early part of the American colonization.
The light marks the northeastern point of Samar Island and lead vessels to the entrance of San Bernardino Strait marked by the San Bernardino Lighthouse. One of the most traveled waterways in the archipelago now and even during the American occupation, with the Capul Island Lighthouse, these stations are invaluable to vessels coming from the Pacific Ocean and entering the country through the San Bernardino Strait on its way to Manila or any ports of the Philippines. “THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE THAT I HAVE BEEN TO!” I screamed my lungs out, hoping that she would hear me even when I was at the highest point of a giant rock and she at the very bottom of it.
“SAME HERE!” she yelled back.
That was no exaggeration. Biri Island is the most gorgeous place that I have been to so far. I stood there and tried to take in all the beauty and wonder that surrounded me but even my elephantine head could not contain it all.

The lighthouse already left us in awe but what was truly floored our jaws was the scenery. Since I ran out of proper words that would properly describe what we saw. I will let the pictures do the talking.
Since we are fronting the San Bernardino Straight, the wind here is very strong, strong enough to drag you to the edge if you will let it. No kidding! The scenery was just a feast to the eyes, a spectacle of nature converging at a common point. To think that this is a lighthouse site. The blue waters of the Samar sea, the beautiful horizon, everything is simply magical. You can even go down and have a dip in one of the natural saltwater pools surrounding the lighthouse. The waters here are clean and sparkling and the rocks formed in different sizes of basin like shapes that you can choose to swim in. I never thought beholding a sight like this on the island. And that’s what I like about it, it just keeps surprising me. Read More: http://dalediga.blogspot.com/2012/03/visiting-16th-century-church-and-capul.html
