BEST PLACES IN NORTHERN SAMAR

The natural beauty of Northern Samar has a lot of tourism potentials that are still undiscovered and unknown to many tourists.

Taking a tour of the islands is a great way to get a feel for the local history and culture. There are plenty of scenic spots to discover, such as the enchanting rock formation, incredible waterfalls and hot spring, sandy beaches and coral reefs, famous old churches, clear rivers, caves, virgin forests and many other secret places. The three secret places are the islands of Biri, Capul and Dalupiri, all off the coast of Northern Samar. Remote and desolate, and definitely off the normal tourist track, Northern Samar is a province which evokes powerful images and untouched beauty. He hollered at the other habal-habal driver that we were going to Lagbangan. Whoa!

Not far from town center. Actually just 5 minutes of habal-habal ride along a dirt road that can accommodate four-wheeled vehicles, but better negotiated with motorbikes!  Read More:  http://philippinetravelnotes.blogspot.com/2014/06/lagbangan-ecopark-beach-resort.html

Because it was an important port of call for the Spaniards, the inhabitants were naturally converted to Catholicism. In 1596, the Jesuits were the first to establish a mission in the island under the patronage of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The first church was built using wood and thatch and was later fortified to repulse Moro invasions. Under Father Joaquín Martínez, the Franciscans took over in 1768. Thirteen years later, Father Mariano Valero repaired the church and built the belfry. On November 8, 1864, the Bishop of Cebu decreed that Capul as a parish. The Church of Capul was a prime example of church fortification during the Spanish Colonial Era.  Read More:  http://harrybalais.com/2015/07/capul-island-and-the-galleon-trade/
