Vera Falls is a refreshingly stunning cascade located in the municipality of Malinao, Albay. This 25-meter beauty have mini waterfalls coming out of the rocks at the side of the main falls. It’s very cold catch basin is about 2 meters deep and is really clear and clean. I commend the people who manage this waterfalls because it is well maintained.
Being tucked within the outskirts of Albay, one will feel a sense of veiled utopia after an easy downhill sauntering (which obviously needs a pretty strenuous trek back). Nonetheless, I love Vera Falls’ charm. It was our last stop for our Bicol trip and we had to cut-short our stay. I wish to get back to this waterfalls the next time I am in Albay. Vera Falls is a stunning cascade nestled at the foot of Mt Malinao in the province of Albay. Its refreshing cold water flows down from the verdant mountain and meanders into the rivers and streams irrigating rice fields on the plains near the idyllic pastoral town of Malinao. The falls are about 8 kilometers from Tabaco City, an hour and a half drive from Legaspi City and about 45 minutes drive from Ligao City via Sabloyon Road.
As we neared the base of the falls, the surging 25-meter cascades came into view, playfully splashing a fine mist into the air. The falls flowed into a small but inviting pool hemmed by limestone walls covered in mosses, ferns and other greenery. I didn’t waste much time and quickly clambered over some rocks to take a few shots before joining the rest who were already swimming in the pool. I enjoyed our time here immensely just because I seldom find beautiful waterfalls like this with little or no impact from development and we were able to enjoy it all by ourselves. It was a short but steep walk down cemented steps from the parking lot where trekking starts and for a few minutes, we were heading down. The sound of falling water was becoming louder and louder as we covered more ground. At the end of the railing, as our feet fell on hard stony ground, we were amazed at what greeted us!
Malinao’s Vera Waterfalls in Albay is a beauty. At the middle of a stony wall, water falls down 25 meters into a 2 meter deep pool whose water gradually changes in color according to the depth. From dark to murky to greenish and clear as the water’s edge laps at the stones.
Around the rock wall are streams of water emanating from cracks that other than the main waterfall, these streams appear like mini falls too. The water is deep yet refreshing, especially if you come from a long habal-habal ride and a short trek. Read More: http://langyaw.com/2014/04/29/short-trek-beautiful-waterfall-albay/
