Lignon Hill is located near Legazpi Airport. The hill stands at 156 meters (511 feet) tall and has best view of Mayon Volcano and the whole Albay. It is best to go there in the morning if you want to see Mayon Volcano without the clouds. When it’s in the afternoon, the clouds tend to cover the volcano. It is also good to go there during the late afternoons up to evenings so that you can see the sunset and the lights of Albay. Read More:pinoytravelr.com

As we climbed higher, the winds started to blow cold air which feels very good and we are slowly getting a nice view of Legazpi City from a high view point. After around 20 minutes, we reached the entrance gate going to Lignon Hill. We paid the entrance fee of P20/head. After some picture taking at the gates, we proceeded with the climb and not long after, we saw the signs going to the Japanese Tunnels.

For a brief history about the tunnels, it used to be an arms cache used by Japanese forces during WWII. The tunnel is fully lit with fluorescent lights and no matter where you turn at the tunnel intersections, the path would always just meet each other. There are parts where you have to duck to pass through but you mostly won’t have problems exploring as it isn’t as narrow and it is well lit. We didn’t get to explore much of the tunnels though, as a part of it was under construction when we arrived in there.  Read More:   http://hellowkimmy.blogspot.com/2014/03/lignon-hill-legazpi-albay.html

One of the attractions to visit in Legaspi City is Lignon Hills. It’s a 156 meters hill with an overlooking view of the entire Legazpi City and the iconic wonder, Mayon Volcano.

Lignon Hill is known as the city’s protector. It lies in the middle of Mt. Mayon and the city where approximately 183,000 people reside. During the times of the volcano’s eruption and heavy rains, Lignon Hills has blocked the flow of lava and lahar protecting the city from unimaginable destruction.

Entrance fee is 20P in the main gate and with just a few minute drive, you are already on top of the hill. Above, they have in the center souvenir stores where you can buy handicrafts, key chains, bags and ref magnets. Activities here include sight seeing, zip lining, hanging bridge crossing, and relaxing.  Read More:   http://driftwoodjourneys.com/lignon-hill-nature-park-legazpi-city/
