Rapu Rapu is a municipality of Albay Province in the Philippines comprising of three islands: the Rapu Rapu Island, the Batan Island, and Guinanayan Island.

This hidden natural wonder promises more than you could ever imagined.

Rapu Rapu is the place to visit when you want to enjoy white sands, clear blue waters, caves, and beautiful sceneries.

A two hour motor boat ride from Legazpi port takes you to this secluded island. On your ride along the Albay Gulf, the beauty of the famed Mayon Volcano as well as several eye catching islands and rock formations will definitely leave you breathless. Upon arriving, sidecar bicycles, the main means of transportation in the island, will take you wherever you need to go. Visiting wonderful and unspoiled beaches of Rapu-Rapu is like discovering hidden treasures. Here, you can find powdery white sands comparable with the famous Boracay Island less the commerciality and crowds of course. These beaches include Burad, Maypajo, Carogcog, Guinanayan Resort, to name a few. Most of these beaches are accessible by small outriggers or bancas only. You can rent bancas from local fisher folks for a minimal fee and request for them to take you to these beaches. You can have the entire beach all by yourself or exclusively for your family as you can be sure that there are no other people around that will spoil your fun. Swim to your heart’s content but just be careful though and take a pack lunch with you as there are no available restaurants within the area.   Read More:   http://rapurapualbayph.blogspot.com/2016/03/guinanayan-islands-top-view.html

RAPU-RAPU ISLAND

I know a great trolling spot in the Republic of the Philippines. This is located off the eastern seaboard of Sorsogon Province in the Bicol Region. Jump-off area is the Bacon District and out to the Rapu-Rapu Island Channel. The area is rich in pelagic fish.

Maximum water depth is 2,000 meters(according to Encarta Maps) mid from mainland Sorsogon and Rapu-Rapu Island. There is absolutely no pressure from sportfishing boats. The commonly used boat is the Philippine Banca with bamboo outriggers powered by the pull-start Briggs and Stratton gas engine.

Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Dogtooth Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, GT, King Mack and other pelagics revel in the current/upwelling rich channel. Large sharks also roam in the open sea. My boatmen tell of GT as big as a man off Prieto Diaz. One described fish as big around as mature coconut logs are wide. Still another described 200 lbs. handline snapping without ever seeing the fish. I have seen large Marlin surfacing to feed and even sailfish tailing in the distance. I believe there are granders in the triangle i call San Bernardino Strait opening; Catanduanes Island and Prieto Diaz/Rapu-Rapu Island opening.  Read More:   https://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/threads/rapu-rapu-island-channel-philippines.147954/
