Camiguin Island is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Philippines because if its rich natural resources such as the beautiful white sandy beaches. Because this is a tropical island, it has the capacity to produce fresh quality fruits such as their popular sweetest Lanzones in the province. With the bountiful harvests they experience each year, the government here made an effort to include these sweet fruits in their list of annual festivals.

This year, they will be celebrating the Lanzones Festival 2016 from October 23-29 and they are expecting thousands of tourists who will come and join the celebration in the beautiful Camiguin Island.  For this week-long event, the organizers prepared different activities that will surely entertain both local and foreign tourists. Early today, I had the chance to witness and join this year’s celebration of Lanzones Festival, an annual thanksgiving on bountiful harvest of lanzones here in Camiguin Island, the country’s second smallest province.

Camiguin is an island province of Mindanao also known as the Island Born of Fire because of its unique feature of having several active volcanoes. The province was also tagged as the Lanzones Capital of the Philippines with its pride of having the sweetest variety of lanzones in the country.

Highlights of the celebration are: the street dancing competition from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon, from of Old Parola wharf in (Mambajao) going to Poblacion Barangay Hall; and the showdown of the of the contingents at the Provincial Stadium in the afternoon.   Read More:  http://www.travelingmorion.com/2014/10/on-spot-lanzones-festival-2014-of.html
