Tigayon Hill

3 kilometers away from the Kalibo town center is the only hill in Kalibo, Tigayon Hill. It is a limestone outcropping by the river. There is supposed to be a viewpoint at the top to see the river but it has too many trees obscuring the scenery – there’s hardly anything to see. I was told that they will be constructing an observation tower for a better view.
There are 2 caves. One can be seen from above through an opening near the top of the hill. I tried looking for a ground entrance but couldn’t find one. It seems the only way in is to rappel down, making it inaccessible to the public. The 2nd cave is at street level with a huge opening. It’s shallow which make it ideal for shelter, but not for exploration. Rebels against the Spanish and Japanese rule took refuge in these caves.
Tigayon Hill is just a small mound but offers a lot of things – spiritual solace to the seekers, archeological finds for the history buff, and hopefully, a panoramic scenery of the river when the observation tower is finished. Fatima Hill

Our journey to the monastery was not easy since it is located at the top of a hill at Brgy. Sto. Rosario in Malinao, Aklan… quite far from the town’s poblacion. We left our hometown, Banga, Aklan around 7:15 am and it took us about an hour of drive to reach the foot of the hill. We then drove up the steep hillside toward the monastery. Since it was my first to drive up Fatima Hill, I was a bit nervous but nevertheless, we arrived safely.
The fourteen Stations of the Cross, a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on his day of crucifixion are strategically placed around the area surrounding the chapel in a circle. The unique feature of this place is the bamboo steps that goes up and down around the hill.
In each station, an event of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion is reminisced and related to our daily lives. Prayers and personal reflections are uttered. Read More: https://warangngabinukot.wordpress.com/2016/03/23/the-climb-via-crusis-at-fatima-hill/

As much as a candle, human soul should be put in a receptacle—a harmonious and peaceful place—where it can hold the light that is present in it so it might continue to elucidate a person’s heart and mind for every actions and decisions.
