The Philippine Eagle Center in Davao is home to the critically-endangered bird species Philippine Eagle, or otherwise known as the monkey-eating eagle.
The Philippine Eagle Center houses 36 Philippine Eagles with 18 of them being captive-bred. Aside from eagles, you can see here 10 more bird species, 4 mammal species, and 2 species of reptiles. The place is like a tropical rainforest which makes you feel like you are in one with nature. It is also a conservation breeding facility of the Philippine Eagle Foundation, making it a popular tourist spot in Davao. Who would have thought that a boutique hotel can be a tourist spot?
In Davao City, there is a unique hotel that has caught the fancy of tourists and art enthusiasts. It is not the design of the rooms nor its make up that regale its visitors. The artworks inside and outside Ponce Suites make it an unlikely tourist spot. Years of painstaking work by the artist named Kublai Millan (Rey Mujahid Ponce Millan) have paid handsomely as his works are noticed and recognized. At Ponce Suites, the flamboyant artworks have literally splashed all over the hotel.
You can easily get blown and overwhelmed by the creativity and passion that he has put in his works. We thought those stuffs are just clutters but he saw otherwise. And he produced masterpieces out of it. Other masterpieces of the prolific yet down to earth Kublai can be seen in Davao International Airport (the giant durian), People’s Park, and Rizal Park. But those in Ponce Suites are more than enough to blow you away. Read More: http://harrybalais.com/2013/02/ponce-suites-a-gallery-hotel/
In other places, nightlife is about bars, cocktails, and ladies in bikinis. But not here in Davao. The Roxas Night Market will help you define what “night life” is in Davao City. Instead of ladies in two-piece bikinis, you will see women grilling seafood and barbecues (that includes chicken intestine, chicken head, chicken feet, pork barbecue, longganiza, etc.) You can also try Mang Danny’s Ice Cream, according to the opinion of those who have tried, the dirty ice cream tastes like a gelato. You can also enjoy buying merchandises in a bargain.
The Roxas Night Market is one of the best places in Davao where you can enjoy being one with the Dabawenyos (the people lives in Davao). The items and street food are cheap!
