BAGUIO CITY

Tourism

Tourism is one of Baguio’s main industries due to its weather and history. During the year end holidays some people from the lowlands prefer spending their vacation in Baguio, to experience cold temperatures they rarely have in their home provinces. Also, during summer, especially during Holy Week, tourists from all over the country flock to the city. During this time, the total number of people in the city doubles. To accommodate all these people there are more than 80 hotels and inns available.

Around the park are the children’s playground, biking area, orchidarium, football ground, skating rink, tennis court, basketball court and a few restaurants. Session Road is the main thoroughfare of Baguio in the Philippines and is the main hub of what is called the Baguio Central Business District.

The Lower Session Road extends eastward from Magsaysay Avenue (opposite the Plaza or kilometer zero and Malcolm Square) running through the BCBD until the intersections of Father Carlu Street (towards the Baguio Cathedral and Upper Bonifacio Street) and Governor Pack Road. MINES VIEW PARK

Photo from: cityofpines.com

A ridge located at the extreme northeast side of the city, past The Mansion and Wright Park, Mines View Park boasts of a spectacular view of Benguet’s gold and copper mines and the Cordillera mountains.
The main attractions in Mines View Park nowadays would be the commercial activities such as the souvenir and silver works stores by the park. The one especially worth visiting is Rimando’s, that offers the best carved artifacts, on the Gibraltar side.
Tourists also have a chance to get dressed in full Cordillera regalia — bahag, shield and spear for the men, tapis for the ladies, vests and headdresses for both.
A visit to Mines View Park would not be complete without a stop at the Good Shepherd Convent where one can buy strawberry and ube jams, peanut and cashew brittle and other goodies. They also have a very nice view deck with the vista of the mountains of the Cordillera range as a backdrop for photos. Read More:  http://www.gobaguio.com/mines-view-park.html#.X1rZl4t7laQ
