Barely a hundred meters away from dirt road passable to most vehicles, Caunayan Falls is one of the most accessible falls of Aurora. The falls strongly sprays water from cliff where greenery and even some flowers grow. Creating a great contrast against the white and light gray gravel sand area washed out by intermittent floods, the crystal clear stream fringed only by the blue reflection of the sky and its wild temperature makes it ideal for baths. The bank of the stream is a gravel sand area suitable for picnics.

Popular among locals and tourists alike, Caunayan is a seven-tier water fall. It has become a challenge for thrill-seekers to navigate the top of this unique water feature as it can only be done with minimal support from deeply-seated rocks and hanging wild vines. It’s cool water is so clean and clear that visitors would drink on it. Being close to the town center and having cottages and basic amenities make it the preferred weekend destination among families.  Read More:  https://www.vigattintourism.com/tourism/articles/Caunayan-Falls

Caunayan Falls is located in Pimentel, San Luis, Aurora. The waterfalls is an approximately less than two hundred meters from the main road of Pimentel.  Compared to Ditumabo Falls, Caunayan Falls is much easier to trek too! It will only require a short walk from the entrance to the falls against the 30-45 mins trek for Ditumabo.  There would be a small amount of fee to enjoy the Caunayan Falls: Php10.00 for the Kids and Php20.00 for the Kids at Heart. 🙂 Getting a cottage is not required.   Read more: http://www.chasingphilippines.com/2015/08/caunayan-falls-in-san-luis-aurora.html

After paying the entrance fee, everyone scrambled towards the waterfalls.  We dipped down and it was chilly as was to be expected, but it was not freezing like at most falls.

Besides the water rushing down from the small falls, the catch basin is also being fed by a stream that traverses it, making it a bit of a challenge to swim due to the modest current. The basin is quite shallow, I guess since the falls is really not that large.
Surrounding the swimming area are huts available for rent. These were already filled with families and gangs; picnic baskets and cooking wares in tow; we had to resort to leaving our things on a niche near a tree and just kept our eyes on it.

The area is actually quite interesting for landscape enthusiasts; lots of greens, huge boulders and rushing waters. The problem is negotiating the stream and rocks, which I’m really not good at.  Read More:  https://www.lakadpilipinas.com/2011/11/aurora-caunayan-falls.html
