Palad Palad Festival, a yearly celebration of Bayog’s establishment as a municipality, is based on the traditional Subanen thanksgiving ritual for the “Palad Palad” (blessings) received in the previous year. The celebration showcases Zamboanga del Sur’s tribal dance and live music with the participants wearing indigenous costumes. The Municipality of Bayog, Province of Zamboanga del Sur celebrated the Palad-Palad Festival in commemoration of its 46th Founding Anniversary yesterday, April 9, 2013. Palad-Palad is a Subanen term which means “thanksgiving.” It is a celebration of joy, peace and unity and thanksgiving for great and bountiful harvest, progress and developments and people’s achievement. A street dancing competition at the Municipal Park opened the said celebration. Winners of the contest were awarded with cash prizes. The municipality of Bayog marked its 48th founding anniversary on Friday featuring street dancing competition locally known as “Palad-Palad Festival.”
Palad-Palad Festival, which is held yearly showcases tribal dance and music with the participants in indigenous costumes.
