Sinagtala is a 50-hectare farm resort which was originally a coffee plantation. It nestles on the slopes of the scenic Mount Natib, a dormant volcano and caldera complex in the province of Bataan on western Luzon Island of the Philippines. With the Pinatubo eruption and lahar rainfall, the owners lost of a lot of the coffee trees and their livelihood, necessitating the selling of the property. Former congressman and SBMA Chairman, Tong Payumo and partners purchased the land in 2001.
The development of the resort began in 2009 with roadways, waterlines and electricification. Duyan house was the first house to accept overnight guests with only 6 rooms. This was followed by Beacon, Tampay and finally the Tanawin Houses — all accepting overnight guests. Deep in the forested slopes of the mountains of Orani, Bataan, around two and a half hours drive from Metro Manila, is a hidden piece of wonderland for weary city-dwellers.
The place is called Sinagtala, nestled in Barangay Tala, and it might be the closest you could get to nature within three hours of the metropolis, short of finding your own wooded spot and pitching your own tent. The place is all about enjoying piece and quiet. There are no TVs or internet here, just clean, airy rooms and an infinity pool that seems to spill into the forest for that little bit of fun. Plus, unlike the city a couple of hours away, the air here is clear enough to actually see stars at night (“tala” is tagalog for star).
Frankly though, were it located elsewhere it would have been just a resort like any other. But (and that’s a big but), the biggest draw of the place is not what’s in it, but rather what’s around it. The cool, fresh mountain air beats the airconditioning in any 5-star hotel. The fact there is no TV or internet connection also means that you get quality time with mother nature. Cap that with a very scenic pool, and you have one of the most ideal mountain getaways. Read More: anglaagan.wordpress.com
Sinagtala is a semi-private farm resort located up in the mountains of Orani, Bataan. The houses there are actually vacation houses of the owners but few are renting out their units. One afternoon we decided to visit this place for an ocular inspection and we were not disappointed. We love the weather, the colorful wild flowers and beautiful private houses.
Once you are inside the compound the first thing you will see is their chapel. A nice one indeed! A great place for weddings!
They also have a restaurant inside, and the great thing about the place? They offer good food at reasonable prices. All the private houses at the resort offers free use of kitchen and cooking utensils, but if you don’t want to cook then no worries, this restaurant is open the whole week, anytime of the day.
