Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar which is located in Bagac, Bataan is unique heritage resort. Unique, because the resort features old houses and structures dating as far back as the 19th century which were restored to become a museum of sort located in your typical resort.
Instead of the usual hotel rooms and cottages, at Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar, you can stay on old houses which were renovated inside to become your temporary abode during your stay in the resort. There’s also a cluster of rooms which are housed on a building with the facade of an old Escolta building.

Las Casas offers various options for accommodation, including hotel rooms and private casas. My sister booked us deluxe room, with each room good for 4 people. In line with the resort’s traditional Filipino-Spanish architecture, our room has that old-time ambiance — we had huge wooden cabinets, lamps with warm lighting, a ceiling with intricate design, a spacious bathroom with its own bath tub, and a veranda that looks out over the canal where we could sometimes see tour boats passing by. This heritage resort in the small fishing village of Bagac, Bataan spans a total of 400 hectares. And though only 26 hectares of the vast area has been developed so far, the historical resort continues to grow.
The site houses several exquisite heritage houses, some of which are replicas, but the majority of which are the actual structures, carefully deconstructed at their original site, transported, reconstructed in Bagac, and then restored. The place also boasts replicas of important historical buildings, such as of the Hotel de Oriente in Binondo, Manila. The version in Bagac is a convention center skilfully built and embellished by the area’s locals.
