Tinago Falls is a waterfall on the Agus River, located in between the town of Linamon and Iligan City, Lanao del Norte in the northern Philippine island of Mindanao. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Iligan, a city known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls.
Tinago is a Filipino term meaning “hidden”, the falls being hidden in a deep ravine. Trekking to the falls requires approximately 500 descending steps called the winding staircase.
The falls is high, its very cold waters cascading beautifully into a deep and calm basin-like pool which appears like a blue-colored lagoon. Under the falls is a small cave where people can enter and listen to the rumbling waters. Read More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinago_Falls
Tinago Falls, a 240-feet cascading beauty, is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines’ City of Majestic Waterfalls, Iligan City. Next to Maria Christina Falls, this waterfalls is also a frequently visited natural wonder.
The moniker Tinago Falls was coined from a Tagalog word which means hidden since going to the falls requires an arduous downhill and winding trek before it can be reached. It’s as if the falls are tucked away and is meant only for adventure-spirited individuals.
Once you reach the falls, you’ll immediately be smitten by its charming waters, gushing admirably into a deep, serene catch-basin that looks like a lagoon with cerulean waters that’s very inviting for a dip. Underneath the waterfalls is a pothole where one can stay and be battered as if one is having a massage. Read More: https://nojuanisanisland.com/2015/05/03/tinago-falls-lanao-del-norte-ph/
The breathtaking Tinago Falls is situated in the boundary of Barangay Purakan of the town of Linamon and Barangay Ditucalan of Iligan City. It is also called as Linamon Falls, but geographically speaking, it is in the vicinity of Iligan and is widely regarded as the most beautiful of all the waterfalls in the city. Its name is derived from the Filipino word “tinago” which means “hidden”, because the falls is hidden in a deep ravine accessible via the 500-steps winding staircase.
The water comes from the outflow of the man-made Lanao Lake in the town of Baloi, flowing to the Agus River that cuts into two channels before going to Iligan Bay. One channel goes to the famous Maria Christina Falls also in Iligan City and the other to Tinago Falls. The cold water plunges from a 240-feet high cliff into a deep blue-green natural pool that is ideal for swimming.
