My first time in Bila-Bila was a great scary adventure by myself. It was about 2 km off the trail head and numerous crossing of rivers and hiking alongst the dense forest of Sitio Ilaya. But getting deeper towards the thick jungle canopy, there I was heading to the 3rd level, continuing my journey on another chance, this time was with Tristan, a traveller I hosted in our house for 5 days.
Well, it was colder than the first 2 levels. Trails up to third level is through climbing up the huge rocks. Climbing ropes and supports are needed. Considering I was on my inexpensive flip flop and with a man over 50, we just glanced at the shimmering water from a distance.
Getting to the 4th level, there I saw some butterflies, being dubbed as a butterfly “Bila-Bila” sanctuary. It was getting more dense as we drew closer. There’s wooden bridge making the trails easier. Yet, still, climbing up and down was too tiring pushing my endurance off to the limit. Read More: http://www.islandgirltraveller.com/sibuyan-island-bila-bila-waterfalls-3rd4th-level
The Bila-Bila Falls has nine levels but the team was just going to four levels since the route going there is still not established.
The trek going to the waterfalls was a challenge. They had to carefully make their way through rocks and cross the river. But their young guide Roselito was quick on his feet, running and leaping his way ahead. Along the way they even saw large chunks of marble resting abundantly near the river bed. Romblon province, after all, is known for marble.
They finally reached the fourth level, where a rock formation served as a natural slide. Dyan and Marc carefully made their way there to try it for themselves. Read More: https://news.abs-cbn.com/current-affairs-programs/07/23/12/cantingas-philippines%E2%80%99-waterfalls-capital
One of the newly discovered tourist attraction in the island of Sibuyan is the so-called “Bila-Bila Falls.” Bila-Bila means “butterfly” in the local language. It is located at barangay Canjalon and is the official protection zone for several species of butterflies.
Before, it was extremely difficult to reach this waterfall. You have climb up to huge rocks to reach it. Now, wooden bridge are made to make the trails easier. Bila -Bila waterfall is composed of four levels. The first level is surrounded by huge massive rocks formations with marble like white stones.Wild orchids are hanging freely on huge trees. As you continue to the second level, the road is getting narrow and quite. Only the enormous numbers of different species of animals are creating various sounds apart from the following stream.
The third level is like a garden with one huge rock on the side where you can sit as the water flows down like a shower. The water here is colder than the second level. The trail up to the fourth level is through climbing up to the huge rock. This is the awesome level looks like someone planned to do it. There is a natural unique slide made up of slippery, wide rock that empties into a natural swimming pool. Water flows like crystal beads, pure and clear that sparkle like a diamonds at midnight light. It takes about two kilometers off the trail and almost an hour of crossing the rivers and hiking along the dense forest.
