“Gawahon” is a Hiligaynon word which means “overlooking.”

Concealed in the abundant greens of the eco park are the magnificent waterfalls of Gawahon. There’s a boating lagoon where you can enjoy activities such as kayaking (Php50.00 per boat per hour) and paddle boating (Php100.00 per boat per hour). You can also soak the whole day at the pool (Php50.00 per person) or join the kids at the kiddie pool (Php30.00 per person).

For small groups, you can rent a cottage or picnic hut (Php300.00 per cottage) and a multi-purpose hall (Php1,000.00 per use) that can accommodate big groups. There are also rooms, villas and suites (Php1,200.00 to Php2,000.00 per day) for those who would like to stay overnight. Gawahon Eco Park is one of the tourist attractions located in the mountainous area of Victorias City, also known as the sugarcane capital of Negros Occidental.

The first four falls were tiny and shallow but they were unique and beautiful in every way.  The fifth and sixth Falls were taller but they were not very easy to reach. Their location was on the rocky and dangerous part of the trail, to say the least.

The location is home to different species of flora and fauna unique to a tropical country, like ours. Even though we did not see them, we were treated by their joyous and constant chirping while hiking back to the first falls. Truly it was an unforgettable and nicely shared experience with friends.   Read More:  https://rubylific.wordpress.com/2016/03/25/gawahon-eco-park/

Gawahon Eco Park is An Oasis Concealed in the Green Paradise of Negros Occidental.

Gawahon is actually a Hiligaynon term which means “to look-over from a high area”. In the olden days when houses were raised from the ground and were made of bamboo and nipa, “gawahon” would mean “to look-over from the window or door”. Indeed the name aptly suits this park since it is situated in a strategic spot in the high hills of Barangay XI offering an overview of the lower plains and the city. The site also features 7 waterfalls which I was not able to visit. The first waterfall is about an hour hike from the main area of the park. My short stay there did not warrant such walk.

As you enter the park, you’ll experience the captivating panoramic view between Silay and EB Magalona. And you’ll feel the cool breeze and scent of trees around you.

Gawahon Eco Park is found at the northwestern part of Mount Silay, which is in the upper half of the vast North Negros National Park. Within the eco park are seven waterfalls, their beauty and splendor are distinct from the other.

Concealed in the abundant greens of the eco park are the magnificent waterfalls of Gawahon.
