I have discovered a priceless treasure in Barangay Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte – the less visited Lumondo Falls. The waterfall which is about 10 meter-radius from the actual water drop or 20 feet up the rift of the river is justifiable to be called as “environmentally-raw”. Less visited, its natural beauty is preserved and close to untouched.
Cascade of small lagoons with crystal-clear waters embedded on huge rocks is an opening salvo as one approaches the location of the waterfall. Huge Rocks’ formations are naturally set-up and engineered. The waterfall is literally photogenic and majestic. The place is a rich “flora and fauna environment”. Reptiles like “bebang”, different species of birds, rich vegetation of ornamental and non-ornamental plants are common sightings in the area. According to the locals, flying Lemurs are also seen visiting the river close to the waterfalls. Read More: http://www.travelingmorion.com/2013/04/morions-phototravel-diaries-less.html
Lumondo Falls is being dubbed as a Neglected Gem of Nature in Surigao del Norte. It is an amazing waterfalls in the province with around 20 meters drop. This falls is at its raw form, preserved and untouched. One can find huge boulders below the cascading waters.
There are also plenty of flora and fauna and different species of birds. This is really 99% at its natural form with less or no improvements made. One have to trek on a mountain trail leading to the falls. Lumondo Waterfalls and Eco Park is located in Brgy. Budlingin, Municipality of Alegria is just 2 kilometers from the Poblacion in Surigao del Norte.
One will be awed by the huge volume of water cascading into a 45 meter granite precipice a majestic panorama which can be viewed from a misty mountain trail. The province of Surigao del Norte is located in the Caraga Region of the Philippines. It is rich with minerals such as gold, copper, bronze and cobalt. This is the reason why several mining operations are happening in the island. The abundance of minerals in Surigao specifically nickel is found in Nonoc Islands. Aside from the economic stability of the province, Surigao is also considered to be a top tourist destination during the summer because of its beautiful beaches and rich marine life.
