BANTAYOG FESTIVAL

Bantayog Festival is celebrated in Camarines Norte every April 25th of the year. Bantayog festival features the book of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippines’ National Hero, which is entitled “Unang Bantayog” (First Monument). The festival is also held in conjunction with the foundation anniversary of the province.

The national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, sure has a lot of fiestas celebrated in his honor, and Camarines Norte surely has one remarkable Rizal fiestas of their own. The Bantayog festival, which will be celebrated every April 13 to 16, high points the First Rizal Monument located in the area. On its 10th year, the event includes street dancing and other celebrate activities for all of the people of Camarines Norte. Bantayog festival is also celebrated together with the foundation anniversary of the province. The Bantayog Festival, which pays tribute and honor to Filipino heroes during the Spanish era and World War II, rolled out its colorful street dance parade here last Saturday, giving spectators a show to remember.
The festival is celebrated alongside Camarines Norte’s 97th founding anniversary from April 15 to April 29. Camarines Norte is where the first marker honoring national hero Jose Rizal was placed two years after he was shot at Bagumbayan (Luneta). The marker also gives tribute to the heroism of a group of (katipuneros) from Daet during the Daet Revolt on April 14-16, 1898 against the Spaniards.
The Bantayog Festival is also celebrated in each town of the province with their own festivals such as the “Pinayasan” in Daet; “Palayogan” (from the root word Palay and Niyog) in Sta.
