KAPARKAN FALLS / MULAWIN FALLS

This waterfall is one big reason to go to Abra. Not because of its size, but its extraordinary appearance. Unlike most waterfalls in the Philippines, which are formed by roaring cascades, Kaparkan Falls is distinguished by multi-tiered spring pools/terraces that gently cascade down the forest.

Recently, Abra became popular on social media due to its viral photos of a “terraced” waterfalls which is located in Tineg Abra. In my own opinion, perhaps it is described as “terraced” because it is similar to some of the rice terraces view in Mountain Province.
They named this as Kaparkan or Mulawin Falls and it is now one of the rising attractions in the province of Abra and was later featured on the GMA Tv show Biyahe ni Drew. Since then, the show had given enough reason why Abra should be included in every travelers destination in the Cordillera region. The trail to Kapalkan can be hard and rough during the rainy season as the mud could be really thick, but it should not be a problem as long as you’re wearing proper trekking shoes or sandals.
Upon arriving in Kapalkan, you would easily notice that are no stores or establishments so it is really a must that you bring all the water and food you can bring with you.
The first area of Kapalkan falls is already as beautiful as one could imagine, it may be the sight mostly photographed as not everybody tries to go further down to the many other levels/layers of the falls.
