Many people think of mountains as sacred places, and for the people of Tawi-Tawi, their version of a sacred mountain is Bud Bongao. Dominating the landscape of Bongao Island, locals make it a habit to climb the mountain believing that it can heal diseases. From babies held by their mothers, to adults, the mountain for them is a great place to practice their beliefs.

Visitors are also welcome and it takes between 30 minutes to an hour to reach the top. Being the highest point in Tawi-Tawi, it’s a good spot to gaze at the surrounding islands and Bongao town proper. Read More: http://insights.looloo.com/tawi-tawi-top-places-to-visit/

Bud Bongao or Bongao Peak is the province’s major landmark. Locals hike up this mountain cliff to ask for blessings for good health, to pray in the Muslim shrines along the way, or as a form of thanksgiving. You can take a half-day trip up to Bongao Peak. Hiking up will take 1-2 hrs depending on your pace. The hike takes a bit of effort, but the view from the top is worth it. Read More:http://www.traveling-up.com/travel-guide-tawi-tawi/
