DARIGAYOS COVE / BEACH

Darigayos Cove.  The 800-meter beach line of this cove is filled with white, fine sand, compared to the other coastlines of Luna where they are filled with pebbles. It is located in barangay Darigayos, 34 kilometers from the city of San Fernando. This is the first barangay to be passed when taking the Balaoan-Luna Road if coming from San Fernando.

Like most coastlines, the primary source of income of the residents is from fishing. Along the road, you can see vendors selling their new catch. And because this place is popular especially during summer, some locals built cottages for the visitors as their additional income.

During September to November, this cove is also an alternative place for surfing. From San Juan, surfers are visiting this place due to the waves being higher in this particular season. Like the beaches of San Juan, waves are pretty strong and you might be pulled away if you’re not careful enough. But during its calmer times, its clear waters are very enticing for swimming. Luna. The last town of La Union, Philippines. A small town which was named after Juan Luna, one of the Philippine heroes.  Fish and gravel are the main products from this place; obviously because they’re surrounded with water.

Luna has 40 barangays (district). One of the best barangays is Darigayos.  Darigayos offers recreation to those who are on tight budget but would still like to have a fantastic break. Although there are few things to enjoy there—swimming, snorkeling, diving, boating—the place is still good for relaxation. You’re stressed out and you’d love to enjoy tranquility, white sand, sunset and food? Go to Darigayos. The beach in Darigayos is clean, clear and peaceful. You’ll see a lot of hermit crabs and nice rock formations in the seashore.  Read More: http://atingtahanan.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/simple-yet-captivating-darigayos/

Darigayos is within the boundaries of Luna, but unlike most of the beaches in this town which is famous for its pebble beaches, the sand here is fine to coarse white sand. This beach is reportedly an alternative place for surfing during the months of September to November.

There are a few resorts and a number of thatch huts along the beach but practically no person in sight. Despite having the beach all to ourselves we decided to just look around and take photos. With a pending drive to Luna town proper and eventually Baguio City, we simply didn’t have enough time for beach bumming here.  Read More:  https://shoestringdiary.wordpress.com/2018/11/28/immuki-island-and-darigayos-beach/
