The municipality of Lubao in the province of Pampanga, Philippines will host the 2nd Lubao International Hot Air Balloon Festival on March 26-29, 2015 in Brgy Prado Siongco featuring some 46 multi-colored hot-air balloons from some fifteen (15) countries all over the world including some sixteen (16) special shaped ones to thrill at least 100,000 spectators.

This was the announcement made by Mr. Noel Castro, the overall chairman of the now famous event, who said that this year’s friendly competition among a hundred international pilots is the biggest so far in Southeast Asia.

To be featured this year are the following special-shaped dirigibles: Humpty Dumpty, Darth Vader, Airship, Clown Bruno, Newspaper, Badette, Master Yoda, Brandenburger Tor, Monster, Snobird, Wish Cake, Heart Shape, among other regular shaped balloons.

Among the special ground activities to keep spectators busy all day include, though not limited to the following: Balloon ride, night glow, paragliding, wakeboarding, animal show, water balloon fight, sky diving, fireworks display, giant lantern show, cultural shows, paintball war games, concerts, game booths, kite flying, food and trade bazaar, among other events.

The general public is advised to gather at the balloon launch area as early as 5:00 in the morning to catch the morning fly-out, and in the evening at around 6:30 p.m. to then witness the daily night glow (weather permitting).

How to get there: From Manila, take Victory Liner, Genesis or Five Star (with terminals in Pasay and Cubao) that head towards north to Bataan. Otherwise, take the NLex San Fernando toll plaza, turn left towards Bataan along Jose Abad Santos Ave. (former Olongapo – Gapan Rd.), straight to Lubao; stop at the Lubao – Dinalupihan welcome arch.
