Lake Holon, also known locally as Lake Maughan, is located in the Municipality of T’boli, Province of South Cotabato, Southern Mindanao. As I have researched more about it, Lake Holon is actually a crater of a stratovolcano named Mt. Parker, locally known as Mt. Melibingoy, and that explains the steep trail I didn’t expect! Mt. Parker is the highest peak among the 15 mountain ranges surrounding Lake Holon, with a height of 1,824 masl. Lake Holon is a caldera lake, nestled in the mountains of South Cotabato, one of which is the stratovolcano, Mt. Parker or locally known as Melibengoy. The highest point is 1,756 meters above sea level.

Before you will reach the jaw-dropping beauty of Lake Holon, you will have to trek for about 2-4 hours, depending on the trail you choose. There are two trails going to Lake Holon: Kule and Salacafe. The Salacafe Trail is the rather ‘easier’ trail going to the lake. It will take you about 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. The second trail is called the Kule Trail. It’s the more challenging one, and will probably take you 4-5 hours before you reach Lake Holon.

Climbing Mt. Parker is relatively easy. The only challenging part is the seemingly endless steep ascents on your way to the viewing deck. Upon reaching the viewing deck which stands at about 5000 feet, you will have to endure another one hour of descent until you reach Kenebeg or Station 5. After that, you will charter a boat going to the camping site in Lake Holon.  Read More:   https://beanintransit.com/lake-holon-tboli-south-cotabato-travel-guide/

Lake Holon is a hidden gem in South Cotabato.  Tucked away at 1,756 metres above sea level in South Cotabato, it is a lake of a mystifying and enchanting nature.

Deep in the hinterlands of South Cotabato, where the ethnic tribe of the T’boli people resides, sits a place filled with wonder and surreal beauty. The uncharted terrains, marred by certain ruggedness, have been trekked by adventure-seekers who are in search of new places to marvel at. There, nestled at the crater of Mt. Parker, is Lake Holon, whose clear waters and surrounding green pastures bring forth a feeling of peace and tranquility to every visitor who dared to climb its trails.  Read More: https://ph.asiatatler.com/life/lake-holon-a-hidden-gem
