NAPANTAO MARINE SANCTUARY

The Napantao Fish Sanctuary is located at Ilijan Point, in San Francisco, Southern Leyte. It can be reached by motorized banca in about two hours from Maasin upon prior arrangement with private boat operators.

The Napantao Fish Sanctuary is full of healthy corals, clear water, rich marine life; the highly diversed underwater terrain in the area promises to be a challenging and exciting dive that a resident school fully grown surgeon fishes welcomes the “intruder” to a celebration of marine bliss and tranquility; hideout full of huge sea fans and soft corals; the place is virtually intact.

Visitors should bring their own equipment and provisions such as water, foods, etc. Bathing, swimming and snorkeling is allowed in nearby beaches and adjacent reef areas; best time to dive: October to May. Read More: https://greedypeg.org/southern-leyte/Napantao-Fish-Sanctuary.html

Directly across Sogod Bay from our resort lies Panoan Island and the Napantao Marine Sanctuary dive site. This dive is world class. The oldest marine sanctuary in Sogod Bay features a large wall dropping to depths of 50 metres. Giant gorgonian fans are abundant on the wall. It is spectacular on a sunny day and looks absolutely majestic. When the current is ripping hard, large pelagic fish are often seen here. This is one dive you must not miss!  Read More:  https://www.sogodbayscubaresort.com/napantao/

I can’t begin to describe the beauty of this dive site. The wall is covered with beautiful sea fans and the shallow reef on top, lush soft coral, teeming with life. IMHO Napantao gives Bunaken a run for its money. I have heard about the infamous up and down currents but conditions were really calm during my visit in April. Definitely a place I would love to return to as often as I can.  Read More:  https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1380885-d7714995-Reviews-Napantao_Marine_Sanctuary-Padre_Burgos_Southern_Leyte_Province_Leyte_Island_Visa.html
