When we arrived in Mabua, I was totally stunned. I never thought that the water will be faultlessly clear and impeccably calm. Yes, there were no white and powdery sand but I was impressed, relentlessly enjoying every hop and shoots.

The other end of the strip features towering boulders. We cautiously climb through the cuts on its side and positioned atop to witness the entirety of Mabua’s shore. “What an amazing sight!” were the mere words I uttered while peacefully settled in the elevated area.

Mabua Pebble Beach, located 30 minutes from the city center of Surigao, is unique among many of the Filipino beaches due to its multitude of smooth white pebbles that make up its shoreline.
While most beaches are formed through the movement of sediment influenced by the wind, waves and currents, Mabua Pebble Beach’s unique composition was most likely formed by very strong forward swashing waves that forced the pebble material to be driven onshore, and weaker return swashing waves that caused the material to be deposited.
The countless number of smooth pebbles that make up Mabua Pebble Beach, each varying in different sizes and shapes (although the majority tend to be oval) also serve another, albeit different, purpose. Walking barefoot on the smooth stones, according to reflexologists, has a strong impact on the body, as the feet have reflex points that are connected to our internal organs, making this beach both stunning and therapeutic. Mabua Pebble Beach is among the priced tourist attractions of Surigao City. The City is part of the Province of Surigao Del Norte in CARAGA Region and is the gateway to the famed Siargao Islands and the Province of Dinagat Islands. There are other tourist spots that Surigao City has to offer but I find Mabua Pebble beach as the priced spot that is truly unique in many ways.

Mabua Pebble Beach is a shoreline of kilometer-long stretch of smooth, multi-sized pebbles situated in Barangay Mabua, about 20-minute ride from the City Proper. There are no sands, of any kind, in this part of Surigao City. The beach’s shoreline is completely composed of smooth stones, mostly in white colors and of different sizes. It was an amazing thing to see such a lovely quite beach so unique from the many beaches. One of the greatest works of nature.
