HUROM-HUROM SPRING

It was a fairly long tricycle ride for just P20! We passed by 3 spring resorts before coming upon Hurom-Hurom. It was the last one where the road ended, just at the base of the mountain. Hurom-Hurom is the original and the biggest spring source. There were many pools sourced from the same spring. Some go deep to 7 feet while some are essentially wading pools. The water is refreshingly cold, but not super cold. I went where water was coming out of the rocks and drank as much as I could – I even bottled 1.5 liters of it!

Hurom-Hurom is privately owned and run by a family. They have a small convenience store in the resort for drinks, snacks and barbeque. There are also picnic huts scattered around the pools which can be rented. Despite its increasing popularity, it remains spartan and simple for the locals to afford and appreciate. I enjoyed having a brief talk with sisters Pamela and Nina who gave me a candid backgrounder on the history of the spring and the current tourism issues. In the local dialect, “Hurom-hurom” means to dip, or to submerge. One can surely enjoy a dip in a cold spring especially during the hot days. Located at the foot of a mountain, Hurom-hurom Cold Spring at the sleepy barangay of Nabas, Aklan is one of the main summer destinations of locals and tourists in during the summer.

True to its name, Hurom-hurom is the best place to soak and cool down. We visited there during the sembreak (around last week of October) and the place is packed full of local tourists looking to enjoy the cold spring water. How cold, you say? Let’s just say that you can soak bottles of your drinks in the pool and after waiting a few minutes or hours, you can drink its ice cold goodness.

The water springs from the foot of the mountain flowing down the man-made pools which makes it colder. Trust me, you will get goosebumps and chattering teeth from seconds of contact with this icy pool.

There are a few diving spots in the area where you can test your courage by climbing atop a boulder then banging your chest while yelling like Tarzan before jumping into the cool depths of the spring.

Hurom-hurom cold spring is a perfect getaway for your friends and family because it offers loads of fun and adventure at very minimal cost. Transportation will cost you less if you rent a tricycle from the town going to Brgy. Laserna, Nabas, Aklan.    Read More:   https://warangngabinukot.wordpress.com/2016/03/22/taking-a-dip-at-the-hurom-hurom-cold-spring/

If the usual train of thought goes as Nabas ? cold springs, the next arrow would point toward the town’s pride, Hurom-hurom.

Pools of varied depths allow you to choose between merely dipping your ankles and submerging your entire body in water that flows directly from a mountain spring. You’d think you were bathing in some Banawe or Sagada stream—swimming in the water for half-an-hour straight will numb your nerves.

This natural bounty doesn’t seem to run out, as the clear water spreads over much of the resort’s grounds, enveloping your feet before spilling over to the neighboring natural brook.   Read More:   https://www.choosephilippines.com/go/water-forms/1359/top-six-things-to-do-nabas-boracays-neighbor
