AMAZING PLACES IN ANTIQUE

 

Bearing the tagline “Where the mountains meet the sea,” the province of Antique is a memorable place to visit if you are in both seawater and land terrains. If the tagline is not already ostensive in what it means, it actually meant the short distances between the province’s coastal waters and rising mountains as both terrains parallel each other across an elongated piece of land.

Neighbored by the provinces of Aklan to the northeast, Capiz to the east, and Ilo-Ilo to the southeast, Antique is nestled at the western-most part of the Panay Island which subsequently exposed it to the Sulu Sea where entry by boat is possible. However, of these provinces, only Ilo-Ilo and Aklan act as an entryway to the province by land. Nogas Island

Nogas Island is an inhabited marine reserve, reachable in 20 minutes by sailboat or motorboat from the shoreline of Anini-y town proper.  The island is surrounded by white sand beaches and is ideal for bird watching, shell hunting, scuba diving and snorkeling.


Sira-an Hot Spring

Sira-an Hot Spring is a hot sulfur spring on the top of a solid rock.  The warm water flowing is collected into a small man-made swimming pool overlooking the Nogas Island.  It is only 1-1/2 km. from Anini-y town proper.

 

Cresta de Gallo

Cresta de Gallo Island is a rocky outcrop resembling a cock’s comb.  It is believed to be rich ub mineral deposit.   A dive site, it is called Punta Nasog by the locals and has scenic Rendon Beach and Bantigue Beach at its base.

 

Pula Waterfalls

Red-tinted water cascades down the Pula Waterfalls.The exceptional waterfalls is located two kilometers from the town of San Remigio in the Province of Antique.  The name Pula (or red) Waterfalls is derived from the red-tinged waters of the waterfall. It is fast becoming a popular natural attraction in the region. Perfect for photography and swimming.

Near the Sibalom town where the natural park can be found, is the town of San Remegio, a town that is un explored. The town has so many places potential for tourist spots. One of these is the Bato Cueva (Rock Cave). But there is a little problem in entering this cave because you have to crawl due to its small opening.

 

Batabat Coral Reef

Batabat Coral Reef can be found one kilometer offshore in Barvaza, Antique province. The varied colored corals can be seen through clear waters and the beautiful composition of corals, fishes, and other marine life are among the best in the county. The natural attraction site is perfect for divers, photographers, and the usual nature tripper.

 

Batbatan Island

Batbatan Island, Culasi, Antique is the home of the ethnic people called Tangays. This island harbors a rich biodiversity underwater (coral reefs and exotic tropical animals), above ground (colorful endemic wild birds and a colony of flying foxes and monkeys), and underground (inside its caves), and everything in between (coral cliffs that submerge in clear sea water and the creatures that live there).

There are natural coves, white sand beaches, a shifting sand bar for relaxation; whale shark watching, hiking, mountain climbing, and kite boarding for adventure; the rituals, the legends – the culture. The old watch tower, the ruins and the legends that persisted to exist throughout ages.

 

Macalbag Waterfalls

The Macalbag Waterfalls is a tourist destination in Barbaza, Antique province. It is a raging waterfalls with a height of 50 ft. and has multiple caves. One cave is believed to have as much as seven “rooms.” The other caves still remain unexplored.

 

Mt. Madja-as

A journey to the mountains of Madja-as is an experience, a beautiful mountain scenery, different species of flora and fauna, rare orchids, pitcher plants, wild herbs, wild deer and boar, cloud rat, a bonsai forest looking neatly trimmed, a lagoon, and a rainforest that provides Madja-as a weather of its own.

 

Bugtong Bato Waterfalls

Hidden in the lush green scenery is a multi-tiered waterfalls called Bugtong Bato, one of the 17 waterfalls of Tibiao, Antique. Bugtong Bato is a 7-tiered waterfall in which the height of the first waterfall is at least 75 feet.

The Tibiao River is one of the best white water rivers in the country perfect for kayaking. It boasts of crystal clear waters suitable for white water rafting/kayaking at various grades of difficulty, from beginners to professionals.

 

Sibalom Natural Park

Sibalom Natural Park is a 5,511.47-hectare (13,619.1-acre) protected area in the Philippines on the island of Panay in the municipality of Sibalom, Antique. It was proclaimed a natural park on 23 April 2000.[1] It is considered as one of the last remaining lowland rainforests on Panay.

Antique Rice Terraces

A hidden heritage has been “rediscovered” deep in the mountains of San Remigio town, Antique province.

A cluster of rice terraces spread in a combined area of 600 hectares has been preserved by the Iraynon Bukidnon, an indigenous group in Barangay (village) General Fullon, and is deemed a cultural treasure.

The terraces lie in a valley surrounded by rolling hills and several mountain peaks. To the northwest, a few hundred meters away, are two waterfalls.
