There are in fact numerous waterfalls in Compostela Valley, being a landlocked province surrounded with gold-rich mountains. Awao Falls in the town of Monkayo is one of, if not, the grandest of them all.

Tucked in the remote barangay of the same name, Awao Falls is Monkayo’s prized attraction. It features three layers of cascades, rumor has it that there is even fourth!

The first tier is the icon of Awao Falls. Commonly called as Falls 1, it is a towering curtain of cascading water dropping to a height of approximately 80 feet into a shallow and rocky catch basin. The water cascades on a rough and accented wall creating numerous droplets. Truly a majestic natural canvas! A stunning series of waterfall is sheltered within the lushes of the verdant foliage and golden grassland of Brgy. Awao, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province. Locally known as Awao Falls – derived from the area where it was located..

The first tier or Falls 1 represents the Awao Falls, with a lofty height of approximately 25 meters to 30 meters(based on my estimation)..The water is so cold even though the sun is directly penetrating the water..It has a picture-postcard view, a great place for photo shoots and taking selfies.

The second tier or Falls 2 stand at approximately 10 meters up to 15 meters(based on my estimation) which looks like a small lake..Going up to the second falls is not that easy, cause you need to look for the man made stair at the left side of the falls( if your facing it)..At the end of the stair is a clean comfort room with abundant rushing water.   Read More: http://traversephilippines.blogspot.com/2017/12/awao-falls.html

Nestled among the hills of the farming village of Awao and accessed through a system of trails with sweeping mountain vistas, the two waterfalls of Awao should be on every tourist’s list of must-see places.

With waters remaining almost crystal-clear even after a downpour, they are the latest in the growing list of attractions offered by Monkayo, the northernmost town of Compostela Valley province in the Davao region of southeastern Mindanao.  Read More:   https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/687727/compostela-valley-waterfalls-add-crystal-glitter-to-land-of-gold#ixzz5XTSfKaeK
