Baliuag is famous for its Semana Santa (Holy Week) or Lenten procession. The town boasts of about a hundred floats carrying life-size statues showcasing events from the life and passion of Christ.  See some of the floats in the video below:

A lot of the floats are grand and ostentatious beyond comprehension! You will be surprised by the sheer magnitude of the procession and the size and details of many of the floats. While some were very tastefully designed, many overly decorated and have deviated from a solemn procession to one big production.

The procession now seems to be a parade floats, some even pulled by motorized vehicles, some with industrial generator sets to power them.  Nevertheless, despite the fact that some of the saints and floats were so outlandishly dressed,  the Baliuag Holy Week procession is really a great show.   It was a well-choreographed production, and no doubt, a wonderful tourist attraction!
