Off the coast of Sta. Cruz are the islets of Polo, Mongpong and Maniwaya.

Mongpong, the farthest from the mainland, is approximately 20 to 25 minutes by boat from Maniwaya. Northeast of this islet lies a kilometer’s stretch of white coral beach almost similar to the one in Elephant Island.

Mongpong island is the farthest from the mainland Marinduque,  this is  19 kilometers away from Bayubod port of Santa Cruz,  and about an hour travel time.

The eastern part of the island is a kilometer deserted long white sand beach, where crushed corals are scattered.  The northeast of part of the island is the distinguished diving site of the entire province of Marinduque.

Mongpong island, offers a different type of seashores, from white sands, to rugged, dramatic, corralled and rocky   that gives a different consciousness to all visitors.

Mongpong Island is perfect for the more adventurous or those who wish to be away from the rapid-paced life in the city but want a bit of adrenaline pump. 

Mongpong Island is famous for its beautiful overarching bridge rock formation called Ungab which towers about 100 feet above the water.  From Maniwaya, the Ungab rock formation in Mongpong Island is definitely another site worth visiting.
