Kadahoman Festival

Kadahoman came from the Bicolano term “dahom” meaning attractive or decent. This was first organized in 2005 to showcase the undiscovered town of Lagonoy and to boost its tourism and business potentials. The event will feature a myriad of activities such as trade, crafts and agricultural fairs. Home-grown merchandises made from native materials will be highlighted such as the nipa or “karagumoy’’ and “tiger-grass”. The materials needed in order to make a soft-broom. It has been noted that Lagonoy is the principal of “tigergrass” to the makers of the “walis tambo ” of Northern Luzon and other parts of Central Luzon. Date Range: Apr 1 to May 1. Buswak Tumatarok Festival

Minalabac is a town in Camarines Sur, the Bikol’s premier province, with a rich cultural and historical significance.

Historically, the town is one of the oldest pueblos in Camarines. It is blessed with the presence of Bikol River that has served as an important transport system for people and their farm products.

Latest archaeological findings reveal that Minalabac is one of the early settlements where trade and commerce flourished during the pre-Hispanic period. Then there is the annual Tumatarok Festival, a colorful event held every May 11, (which is today).

May Ilaoud is a April 27 – May 1 summer festival in Milaor, Camarines Sur to commemorate the Foundation Anniversary and Feast Day of St. Joseph the Worker. Various colorful activities are featured to boost local tourism.

Boa-Boahan Festival

Boa-Boahan is a colorful cultural festival held every 2nd of May at Nabua, Camarines Sur. This festival is of pagan origin for fertility and thanksgiving. The dialect alinsangan is a word that describes the characteristics of the early settlers of Nabua.

Introduced in 1975 to re-enact a legend of how the town’s early settlers survived the big flood that swept their area before the coming of the Spaniards. A big celebration is held in thanksgiving to recount the Nabua Chieftain do rituals feeding only on young coconuts. The coconut embryos is said to make the town folks fertile. Balik Caramoan Festival

A May celebration, Santa Cruzan in Camarines Sur is noted for its resplendent procession which is usually observed during nighttime. Beautiful and young Reynas in their glittered gowns parade around the town reminding the locals of the travails encountered by St. Elena in her search for the Holy Cross thousands of centuries ago. This one noted tradition has its beginnings rooted down from the Spanish regime. In the modern day celebration of Santa Cruzan, a nine-day novena is celebrated in honor of the Sta. Cruz (Holy Cross) enliven with Dotok and Lagaylay by neighborhoods. Beautiful and decorative altars which are made out of banana stalk carved with designs can be seen in every “istasyon” which is put up during the colorful celebration of the Santa Cruzan. Tinagba Festival is a yearly celebration in Iriga City, Camarines Sur during the month of February. In this festival, the locals bring out their best bullcarts which are managed by men and women in traditional colorful regalia. The nativity or birth of Jesus Christ is reenacted during Christmas time in many rural areas in the Philippines, which usually involves dancing and singing.

It goes by different names in various provinces, but is practiced more widely in the Bicol region as Pastores as an annual music festival.

Sinarapan Festival

The Sinarapan fish is scientifically known as Mistichthys luzonensis. This species is found only in Lakes Bato and Buhi and other bodies of water in Camarines Sur province, part of the Philippines’ Bicol region. It is believed to be the world’s smallest commercially harvested fish (though not the smallest fish known). The fish has an average length of 12.5 millimeters. Males are smaller than females. Sinarapan were first studied in 1859, but were mistakenly thought to be immature specimens of Gobius dispar. They received no further outside attention until United States Army scientists described them as a new species in 1902. Voyadores Festival is a street dance reenactment on the transfer of the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia from the Basilica to the Metropolitan Cathedral. Named after the male devotees (voyadores) who accompany and carry the Virgin’s image in a procession called Translacion for a novena at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
