Cebu Taoist Temple is a Taoist temple located in Beverly Hills Subdivision of Cebu City, Philippines. The temple is built by Cebu’s substantial Chinese community in 1972. With an elevation of 300 meters (980 ft) above sea level, the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes.

Unlike the neighboring Phu Sian Temple, the Taoist temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers alike. A ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one’s wish. The ritual includes washing of hands, going inside the chapel barefoot and dropping two blocks of wood. If the blocks of wood are both face up then one could make a wish. If not then it is not yet the time for one’s wish to be granted and one has to come to the temple some other time.

The temple is the center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Zi. Another ritual among Taoist devotees, which is done during Wednesdays and Sundays, is the climbing of its 81 steps (representing the 81 chapters of Taoism scriptures) to light joss sticks and have their fortune read by the monks.

Some guide books and travel agencies offer trips to the temple or as a side-trip in a tour around Cebu City. But it is more popular with grade school students. Read More: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cebu_Taoist_Temple

Cebu Taoist Temple is a famous tourist attraction in Cebu City built in 1972 by the Chinese community residing in the city. It is located in the upscale area of Beverly Hills Subdivision in the northern part of the metro. The Taoist Temple has an elevation of 984 feet above sea level with an architectural design derived from the typical multi-tiered Taoist temples in China. The premises consist of several prayer temples, a wishing well, viewing decks, and a main worshiping temple with a pagoda-styled roof.
Worshipers and non-worshipers can enter the temple and enjoy its serenity. The scenery of the temple is divine as it offers a great view of the modern and crowded city outside its walls.  Read More:  http://www.thousandwonders.net/Cebu+Taoist+Temple

The Cebu Taoist Temple was built in 1972 by the Chinese community of Cebu City. Located in Beverly Hills Subdivision, this multi-tiered temple stands on top of a small hill at an elevation of 300m above sea level. It is the center of the Taoism religion in Cebu but is open even to non-worshipers from 8am to 5pm.

The temple complex, they say, can be accessed via three separate winding paths. We entered the site through a small Chinese door that opens to a winding stairway that leads to a gazebo and another stairway, which then leads to the main temple facade. If I’m not mistaken, the pathway that looks like the Great Wall of China, beside a massive statue of a dragon, is another entrance. I don’t know where the other access point is but that leaves me something to come back to this place for.  Read More:  http://www.thepoortraveler.net/2012/07/cebu-taoist-temple/
