TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

IN NEGROS OCCIDENTAL

Casaroro Falls

In the town of Valencia, Negros Oriental located 9.4 kilometers west of Dumaguete City lies the beautiful Casaroro Falls considered to be the most photographed waterfall in the entire Negros province.

Casaroro Falls is lodged deep into the rock crevices of the rugged Valencia mountains. With an astounding height of 100 feet, the water plunges into a deep cold basin before it flows down to a stream. The waterfall is considerably narrow, instead of the usual wide cascade, but this is precisely what makes Casaroro unique. Though despite its narrowness, the volume of water that drops is heavy and causes a roar as it touches the pool. Around the basin are natural boulders huge enough to rest any traveler’s weary feet.  Read More:  https://dumagueteinfo.com/dumaguete-city/sightseeing-dumaguete-suburbs/casaroro-falls-dumaguete/

Codcod Rice Terraces

The Codcod rice terraces are the results of the artistic labor and dedication of the Codcod locals. With the cool weather, stunning views of Mt. Kanlaon, and the wonderful people, the terraces could possibly be the next ecotourism site. The Codcod Rice Terraces are located in Barangay Codcod, an upland barangay of San Carlos City.

From San Carlos City, take a bus bound to Bacolod. Alight at the crossing going to Barangay Quezon. From there, hire a habal-habal that will take you to Barangay Codcod after passing Barangay Quezon. Alternately, you can also hire a habal-habal from San Carlos City proper to go directly to Barangay Codcod.  Read More:  http://wikimapia.org/38323399/Codcod-Rice-Terraces

Danjugan Island Marine Reserve and Sanctuaries

Danjugan Island is a 43-hectare strip of land carpeted with dense rainforest and secluded in the middle of a marine sanctuary. It is privately managed by the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation (PRRCF), who bought and saved the island from possible destruction back in the 1990s.

Because it is a protected area, fishing is prohibited here, allowing the biodiversity to flourish. Tourists are welcome but the visit must be pre-arranged. Each visitor must attend a short briefing about the island’s history, the do’s and don’ts, and the itinerary for the day.  Read More:  https://www.thepoortraveler.net/2017/10/danjugan-island-itinerary/
