Sonrisa De V (also known as Palm Hill Beach Resort in the past) is a favorite destination for family outings not just because of its affordability but because of its accessibility and not being too crowded, a factor which truly sets it apart from the other nearby resorts such as Blue Jazz and Paradise Island. On the other hand, don’t raise your expectations too high since the amenities in the resort are not superb compared to the other renowned first-class resorts in Samal. Furthermore, the resort doesn’t have its own restaurant; it only has a mini store which sells cigarettes, liquor, simple food and other personal necessities of the guests. This is the best beach near Davao to go swimming even it’s low tide. Read More: http://www.samalguide.com/resort/sonrisa-de-v-palm-hill-and-beach-resort/

How to get there:

  • From the airport or from Davao City Overland Transport Terminal in Ecoland, take a taxi or any jeep that is bound for Lizada St., Lanang, Davao City. From Lizada St., head to Jetty Port. Jetty Port is owned by Pearl Farm Beach Resort but is not limited to the resort itself. Travel time usually takes around 10-15 minutes.
  • Considered another option to get to Sonrisa is thru taking the barge from Km. 11 Sasa Warf to Babak Port. From Babak to Sonrisa you may ride a single motorcycle or bring your private car with you. Just make sure to ask the locals for the directions so you won’t get lost.

For me, a nice beach has the following great features:

  • Clean and clear waters
  • Fine White sand
  • Hermit crabs
  • View of nature

The Sonrisa de V Beach Resort in Samal has all that and more, which I’ll enumerate later. But first, I think I should mention that Sonrisa is not a new beach resort. It’s been there for a long time and local folks in Davao have probably been there a couple of times already. The beach resort was formerly called Palm Hill Garden Resort, but changed its name to Sonrisa de V when a new owner took over the place.

So, Sonrisa is the new Palm Hill, alright?

Why I Love Sonrisa

Very Quiet — I know, some of you will equate being quiet with being boring, but for others who are like me, a quiet place is a first priority. By quiet, I mean that when you go there, it feels like no one is there — just you and Nature. The resort is so solemn you could almost think you are in a monastery minus the monks of course.

Feels Private –Imagine that you have a beach front property – all 500-meter stretch of the frontage.

  • You can swim there any time you want.
  • Your kids and their friends are enjoying the heat of the summer sun.
  • Only you, your family and some friends are there.

Isn’t it nice to own such property?

When in Sonrisa, you can feel just like that. It is as if you own the place, without the headache that goes when paying for the real property tax!   Read More:  http://www.davaotraveler.com/blog/2010/04/18/the-sonrisa-de-v-beach-resort-in-samal/
