Our boss in the office initiated for a summer beach outing. Yet, we are scarce with budget and so, another office mate suggested that we’ll go to Sunset Beach Park Resort because it is affordable there.
The ambiance of the place is generally cool. It has many trees serving as shade when the sun really gets hot. There are a number of open cottages at the beach front and closed cottages are numerous as well for those who want to go overnight. I heard from friends that during night, the place gets really lively because there are fire dancers and there is also a live band. I have not experienced it myself though because we went home in the afternoon.
When you are at Sunset Beach Resort, you can enjoy water sports. You may rent a jet ski or ride a banana boat and have fun under the sun. Read More: http://davaoinfosite.com/resorts/basking-at-the-sunset-beach-park-resort

A resort which showcases a stunning view of the sunset of the king metropolis of the south, Sunset Beach Resort is an ideal vacation destination if you simply want to unwind and shy away from the busy life of the city. Rest and take pleasure in the scenic city scape of Davao and the extensive coastline of the resort. While during day break you may enjoy walking along its wide stretch of coastline, feel the refreshing waters touch your feet, visit its souvenir shop and enjoy the shindigs at night. Basically a lot of people love to spend their time at this resort not just because of its facilities and beach but also due to its budget-friendly prices. The Sunset Beach Resort is located just 25 minutes away from Davao City’s proper, in Kinawitnon, Babak, Samal Island.
How to get there:
- If you are coming from the downtown region, you may take a jeepney or taxi cab to Magsaysay PARK, head straight to Sta. Ana Warf and ride a bus that is bound for Sunset Beach Park in Samal.
- If you are coming from the Davao Airport, you may ride a taxi to Sasa Wharf. Ride a bus and tell the conductor to stop at the Sunset Beach Park. You may also opt to ride a single motorcycle from the Sasa port and take you directly to the resort faster than the bus.

There are many beaches in Samal Island but we only visited one: Sunset Beach Park, a short tricycle ride (Php 10) from Babak wharf. There are half a dozen or so resorts in Sunset Beach Park, but whether staying overnight or for just the day, an entrance fee of Php 30 per person is collected.
It was crowded and loud in Sunset Beach Park the day we visited. Videoke singers were competing against each other from different resorts. Loud music was playing from two or three bars. Sunset Beach Park is not the place for those who prefer peace and quiet.
Laziness was in our bones those last two days of our trip and we just sat around Sunset Beach Park, only taking a break for an hour or two to visit Monfort Bat Colony, said to be the world’s largest bat colony of Rousette Fruit Bats (as of 2006, bat population at Monfort was estimated to be 1.8 million).
