Dorongan Festival

Dorongan Festival is a thanksgiving celebration honoring the child Jesus known to the FIlipinos as Santo Niño. A Sinulog-based celebration, Dorongan Festival is Bansalan’s way of reliving the tradition and culture of the Visayans whose devotion to the miraculous Santo Niño is widespread. The population of Bansalan is said to have roots in Cebu and other towns in the Visayas.

Since Bansalan is also home to the indigenous group called Bagobo, the festival is also adopted to symbolize Bagobo’s acceptance of Christianity when Catholicism was brought to Mindanao. The festival is also a celebration of unity and oneness despite diversity of culture and belief. Camp Sabros is an outdoor adventure camp situated 3,980 feet above sea level on the cool highlands of Sitio Barras, Barangay Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur. It has two of the Philippines’ longest zip lines with its 380 and 400 meters zip lines at 180 feet above the ground.
 
Opened to the public in December 25, 2007 by brothers Edwin and Pando Sacdalan, Camp Sabros (short for Sacdalan Brothers) is surrounded by a lush greenery of tall pine trees all across its landscape, and offers a relaxing view of the surrounding mountain ranges, and a panoramic view of Mount Apo, the country’s highest mountain peak at 10,311 feet above sea level. The Sinab’badan Tribal Festival will be held on the 5th and 6th of September this year. It is one of the prized festivals of the town of Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur. In fact, both local and foreign tourists flock to the province to celebrate this festivity with the locals.

The Sinab’badan Tribal Festival is a merriment dedicated to the unity of various tribes in the municipality. Here, the art, music, dances and other cultural features of the different indigenous groups are showcased. It is a great spectacle of the rich culture of the town of Sta. Bansaulog Festival, which signifies “Kasaulogan sa Bansalan”, seven days in length festivity held each twelfth to eighteenth of September situated in Bansalan, Davao del Sur out of appreciation for the town’s Foundation Day, with Drum and Lyre Presentation , Cheerdance Presentation, Street Dancing Presentation displaying the Bagobo social legacy, Little Miss Tourism Pageant, Hiphop Dance Competition and Agri Day exhibiting.

Specify Bansalan, and nobody appears to know this little prosperous town. Some may even consider it a place some place in Zamboanga del Norte. The Kadayawan Festival is an annual festival in the city of Davao in the Philippines. Its name derives from the friendly greeting “Madayaw”, from the Dabawenyo word “dayaw”, meaning good, valuable, superior or beautiful. The festival is a celebration of life, a thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, the wealth of culture, the bounties of harvest and serenity of living. Celebrated every July 1, Tanggogoan Festival is a celebration of Araw ng Davao del Sur in Digos City, Davao del Sur. Kialegnon Festival

The Kialegnon Festival is a celebration of merrymaking and thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest and recognition for the richness of culture and tradition.

It is celebrated every 28th of September but is a week-long festivities that started way back in 2008.

One of the highlights is the Search for Hiyas sa Kialeg whose candidates come from the tribe of B’laan, Bagobo and Igorot, majority tribes in the municipality. Other events include inter-school singing and dance competition. A tribal day is also allotted for indigenous-related games.

The term Kialegnon originates from the word Kialeg, which is the former name of Magsaysay. Kialeg was a tribal chieftain and a hero, who died on a duel in defending his people.  Read More: http://magsaysay.gov.ph/events/kialegnon-festival/

 

Kasinatian Festival

Kasinatian Festival derived from the Kadayawan sa Davao, Sinulog of Cebu, Ati-atihan of Aklan. Toril has emerged as Kasinatian, a thanksgiving event which takes place once a year during the district’s Pastoral Fiesta, honoring the feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. It is all about engaging the community into celebration through music, dances, artistic presentations, sports, fashion and most of all, prayers.

The main highlights of the Kasinatian Festival 2012 is the Indak-indak sa Dalan “Ati-Atihan”. Chinese New Year celebration is done in Davao with the well wishes of prosperity to all people. It is a full day of festivities with flowing foods and having fun. There will be music and dancers on the streets, a Chinese dragon will go around performing ‘Good luck’ dance to the people and participating merchants.
