 The first week of Bauang’s celebration for its Baggak Festival was a success with the different sectors of the community joining in the festivities which also coincide with the Christmas holidays.

A Garden Show, Food Fair and a Photo Exhibit are some attractions that were opened on the first day, Dec. 16. During the night, eight choirs presented and serenaded the crowd with their Christmas carols showcasing their talents and music prowess.

Volunteer workers from barangay like health workers, sanitation inspectors and nutrition scholars also had their night while the Bauang Tourism Council staged their 3rd Food Fest Dec. 18 with different establishments showcasing their fave delicacies.

“The Parada ng mga Parol on the 22nd will gather together the different sectors of the community in an event, the Parol of each school, barangay, organization, civic-oriented group, department, sector and establishment participating in the parade will symbolize the unity of the people working for the progress of Bauang,” Mayor Martin De Guzman said.

“Join us as we still have a lot of exciting events in store for the next two weeks,” he added.

Theme for this year’s festivities is “Parol: Silaw ti Ragsak, Namnama ken Panagkaykaysa ti Ili a Bauang.”

Aside from the first week of celebration, Rabii ti Pammadayaw and the Selection and Coronation of Miss Bauang 2014 will highlight of the 3-week Christmas and Baggak Festival.  Read More:  http://www.amiananbalitangayon.com

Residents are going all out in paying tribute to their unique Baggak (morning star) festival which the town had been celebrating in the last 13 years. The week-long festival, which will culminate on April 28, is focused on thanking the communities and the private sector for their collective efforts in making the town progressive.

This year’s festival features the town’s creative talents in an art fest that a non-government organization sponsored featuring artworks of high school students. Another unique activity was the landscape and garden show that reflected the town’s concern for the environment.

Other activities include: Children’s Fun Show, Folkloriko entertainment, Fun Run, cultural presentations, and Miss Campus Teen Queen.  The town will have a different celebration next year as festival organizers have decided to incorporate Baggak fest in Bauang’s foundation anniversary which is held every January.  Read More:  http://news.pia.gov.ph

Bauang is one of the municipalities of the province of La Union, Philippines. With its fine beaches, Bauang is the beach capital of the north. Many tourists both local and foreign troop to this place not only because of its beaches but also because of the low accommodation rate in the area.

Like any other town, Bauang celebrates its annual festival. Baggak which means morning star is the town’s annual festival in celebration of the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. Like in the past, Baggak celebration has been marked with colorful and boisterious activities.
