After nearly two decades and two master plans, the Poro Point Free port Zone (PPFZ) is back on track into becoming a premier business and leisure destination in northern Luzon.

The Poro Point free port has some 146 ha of investment area available for development.

The free port houses the Voice of America radio transmitter, a Philippine Air Force facility and a lighthouse complex.

First to build a hotel and casino complex in 2006 was property developer Thunderbird Resorts Inc., whose Santorini-inspired accommodation facility sits on a 65-ha plot inside the free port.  How To Get There

 
By Bus 
 
From Manila, take a bus bound to Laoag, Vigan and Abra. You can choose different bus company including Florida, Genesis, Dominion, Fariñas, Viron and Parta. Ask the driver to let you down at the Poro Poro Point San Fernando, La Union. It takes 6-8 hours drive.
 
By Car
 
From Manila , take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) – Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), take the National Highway going to San Fernando, La Union. You will pass by the provinces of Tarlac and Pangasinan.
 
Once you get to San Fernando, La Union, turn left to Pennsylvania Avenue. Landmark is the Monument of the Unknown Soldiers. Go straight until you enter the gate of the Poro Point Freeport Zone. Less than a kilometer from the gate, you will reach Thunderbird Resorts – Poro Point. Hotel gate is on your left.
