Samar is divided into three parts – Northern Samar, Western Samar and Eastern Samar. For purposes of clarity, Western Samar is simply referred to or called SAMAR.

The Guimit Cave is another large cave full of stalactites and stalagmites, which is situated Talalora, Samar. It can be reach by one and a half-hour motorboat ride from Catbalogan. Some people also call it Python’s Cave.

Guimit Island is legendary for it’s Philippine pythons and a strategic cave that the Japanese used as a hideout in WW2.

Samar is rich with unspoiled wilderness, caves, waterfalls and critters. Catbalogan is a good base to explore the many small outlying islands.

Zumarraga and Daram are the largest two but there are many many small islands scattered around out there that are quite interesting. Most of them are inhabited by fishermen and coconut farmers. Read More:  http://www.dutchpickle.com/philippines/samar/python-cave.html
